Dr. Anuj Chandra, M.D., D.ABSM, has practiced for over 14 years in the North Georgia/ Chattanooga area. He founded the Advanced Center for Sleep Medicine in 2005. In 2010, he became “double boarded” after receiving his second board certification in sleep medicine.

After graduating from the University College of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, Dr. Chandra finished his postgraduate degree in ENT (otorhinolaryngology) from the University of Delhi. He subsequently did several rotations at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship and residency at the University of Connecticut, followed by a one-year fellowship at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He continued his studies in sleep medicine through Stanford School of Sleep Medicine, Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Since the Center opened in 2005, Dr. Chandra has been quick to embrace promising technologies, including the VPAP (Variable Positive Airway Pressure) Adapt SV machine, which provides a variable amount of air depending on what the patient actually needs, and actigraphy, a diagnostic method in which the patient wears a small non-invasive device on the wrist.

Creating a greater understanding of sleep disorders and healthy sleep is a mission for Dr. Chandra. He is regularly interviewed for print and broadcast media on sleep disorders. In 2008, he helped one of his patients organize Chattanooga’s first chapter of AWAKE (which stands for Alert, Well, And Keeping Energetic), a support group for people with apnea and other sleep disorders.

Since 2005, Dr. Chandra has served as part of the international teaching faculty of the National Sleep Medicine Course, a physician education initiative to bring cutting edge sleep medicine training to India.
